Privacy Policy — Stat: Screen Time & App Tracker
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Stat keeps no copy of your screen time. Every number you see is read live from Android and is never stored by the app, never sent to a server, and never shared with anyone. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising.
This policy explains exactly what Stat ("the app") touches on your device and what it does not. It applies to the Android app com.worldvisionsoft.screentimetracker.
What the app reads
Stat reads your device's usage statistics through Android's official Usage Access permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS), which you grant yourself in system settings and can revoke at any time. That data consists of which apps have been in the foreground and for how long, plus how often the device was unlocked.
This is read on demand, while you are looking at the app or its widget. Stat does not build a database of your usage, does not keep a history of its own, and does not transmit any of it. The history you see in the app is Android's own record, read live each time.
What is stored on your device
Only your settings, in the app's private storage:
- Your daily goal and any per-app daily limits
- Which apps you have chosen to protect with Mindful Pause
- When your free trial started, and whether you have purchased the app
- Small preferences such as whether limit alerts are switched on
None of this leaves your device by way of the app. Uninstalling Stat deletes all of it.
Device backup
If you have Android's own backup switched on, those settings may be included in your device backup, in the same way as for other apps. That backup belongs to you, is stored in your Google account, and is encrypted with your device screen lock, so Google cannot read it. Stat neither sends nor receives that data itself. You can turn it off in Settings › Google › Backup.
Purchases
Stat offers a single one-time purchase that unlocks all features. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. Stat never sees your name, card details or billing address. All the app records is a yes/no flag on your device saying the purchase was made, and it asks Google Play whether that purchase exists so your purchase can be restored if you reinstall or change phone.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking
The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. It does not read your advertising ID. The only third-party component is the Google Play Billing library, used solely for the purchase described above.
Network use
The app requests internet access for one purpose: verifying and restoring purchases through Google Play. No usage data is transmitted at any time.
Permissions and why they exist
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Usage access | The app's entire data source: which app is in the foreground and for how long. |
| Display over other apps | Lets the Mindful Pause screen appear over an app you have just opened. |
| Foreground service (special use) | Keeps the pause watching for protected apps while you use your phone. It reads only which app is in front, never what you do inside it. |
| Notifications | Limit alerts, and the quiet ongoing notice Android requires while the pause is active. |
| Run at startup | Restores the pause after a restart, if you left it switched on. |
| Internet & billing | Google Play purchases only. |
Stat does not use an Accessibility Service, which many app-blocking apps require in order to read screen content.
Children
Stat is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, this is a statement of intent rather than of data handling.
Your control
You can revoke Usage Access, the overlay permission or notifications at any time in Android settings; the related features simply stop working. Clearing the app's data resets every setting. Uninstalling removes everything the app has stored. There is no account to close and no request to make of us, because we hold nothing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
